I couldn't read more than the first half of the first page.
But the interesting thing is that Wednesday's episode of Private Practice (and here I know I'm lowering my reputation a bit by admitting I watch the show) had a similar situation where a med student was prostituting herself to pay for med school. And even after she got beat up by one of her Johns, Addison couldn't convince her to stop being a whore (because it's such an easy "safe" way to make loads of money).
I guess the show isn't as far-fetched as I thought.

It just bugs me that there's this atmosphere where sex workers are afraid to report assaults because there's a good chance they'll get into at least as much trouble as the customer who assaulted them.
Sex work is dangerous, but a lot of the problem is that cops and prosecutors are unwilling to go after the customers who abuse sex workers...and these customers know it, which is part of why they victimize those particular people.

Thanks...
I mean, I'm kind of ambivalent about sex work in general, but me (or anyone else) being ambivalent about it doesn't mean that people who do it shouldn't be protected. I'm kind of ambivalent about politics, too, but if a politician gets assaulted, I'd certainly hope it would be prosecuted.
