You know you live in upstate New York when it's twelve degrees out and that seems warm, because your face doesn't go numb between the house and the car.

My husband and I had to break our heating register just to get it above sixty degrees in the apartment. I want to hibernate too, but in the grand scheme of things, I've got it good; he has to work outside.
